Harvest Day 2011

Harvest Thanksgiving

Limerick Sunday September 25th 2011 - Today was designated as Harvest Thanksgiving Day at the Augustinian church, Limerick. Even though we are a city centre church we acknowledge our roots in God’s creation and the rich hinterland of the Golden Vale. God’s abundance was on display in a variety of fruits, vegetables, and cereals on the steps of the High Altar.

A backdrop of Autumn colours and themed banners provided a seasonal setting for God’s generosity. The good harvest this year was celebrated in prayers and Masses. “The fruits of the earth and the work of human hands" were presented at the Offertory. A colourful banner with the harvest theme was suspended above the sanctuary in the church.
