A New Creation

Limerick September 19th 2011 - Today the final elements of scaffolding have been removed from the front of the Augustinian Church overlooking O’Connell St, Limerick. Pristine stone has emerged from behind years of grit and street pollution. The full beauty of the church facade, the tower, the arches, the windows has come into view.

Neighbours, the business community, visitors and our own congregations are very impressed! The Celto-Romanesque Architecture is in marked contrast to the plastic shop fronts of adjacent buildings. Some essential repair work in high places has been completed. Specialised cleaning and sealing equipment were used to enhance the architecture.

This is the first makeover of the church’s face since it was officially opened on December 20th, 1942.
